We had to share this incredible thank you letter from Liz Brown, head designer at Cocoa Cherry. This talented and passionate local company in Knysna are responsible for hand-making Goodbye Malaria’s new dolls, made with our hallmark shweshwe print fabric that was inspired by our dream to end malaria in Africa for good. If you take a closer look you’ll see that we have incorporated our logo – inspired by a citronella flower proven to be a natural mosquito repellent – into the design of the iconic shweshwe print. Goodbye Malaria’s dolls by Cocoa Chery are the source of infinite imagination. They become playmates, and the possibilities for having fun, laughter and “just being a child” are endless. Buy them from our carts at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg – and please read Liz’s letter below to Kim Lazarus, Goodbye Malaria founder who dreams of creatively making an impact and eliminating malaria in Africa. Kim says, “It is so humbling and feels so good to receive a note like the one below…it is so wonderful to know we are making a difference, and making an impact to so many people.”
I just want to thank you so very much for choosing Cocoa Cherry to be part
of the incredible initiative that is Goodbye Malaria. I am truly honoured
to be associated with the organisation and feel proud to be contributing
to the eradication of malaria in Africa. This has given me the push to
expand my business and take it to the next level. I am so proud of Liyema
and Patience, the two ladies who have helped me with the sewing of the
dolls, and they are very grateful to have the work and to have learnt new
sewing skills. They too are proud to be part of the Goodbye malaria work
in Africa! It has given them motivation to sew for a good cause. It makes
me proud to be part of the upliftment of women in my community and to help
them put food on the table for their families.
You are an amazing woman and a huge asset to Goodbye Malaria. It is
awesome to work with you and I am very glad to have 'met' you over email!
I hope to meet you in person one day!
