Driving social change through global awareness
San Diego, September 2016 – South African-based Goodbye Malaria, via their US offices in San Diego, today announced the launch of a USA-based University Ambassador Program to raise awareness of malaria in Africa.
Goodbye Malaria is looking for University students that are creative, innovative, mission-oriented and want to make a real difference by joining the Goodbye Malaria team to help drive social change.
As a not-for-profit initiative started by African entrepreneurs and their Global Partners, Goodbye Malaria develops sustainable eradication strategies to fight mosquito-borne diseases such as Zika and Malaria, the number one killer of children in Africa.
David Stern, Goodbye Malaria co-founder and USA representative, says: “Raising awareness is an important precursor to raising capital. Through the University Ambassador Program, we seek to inspire students to join our fight against malaria. By tapping into many students’ passion for social change, we will increase global awareness and raise important funds to help fight the disease that kills one child every two minutes.”
University and campus-based organization representatives can help by launching a Goodbye Malaria campaign, purchasing African handcrafted bracelets or using social media to promote the Goodbye Malaria brand. By creating their own unique bracelets, students are not only increasing awareness of malaria prevention, but also employing and empowering women in Africa. The Goodbye Malaria bracelets are made by African craftswomen and therefore each bracelet sold creates jobs and training opportunities in Africa.
Funds raised through the University Ambassador Program will go directly to support on-the-ground malaria elimination programs in Mozambique, spraying houses to protect families from contracting malaria.
“Together we can say goodbye, tchau tchau, hamba kahle, au revoir, adios to Malaria,” says Stern.
